A thoughtful classroom setting in Bangkok
Our Story

Learning should feel like progress, not pressure

Panya Academy exists because we noticed that many AI courses rush learners past the foundations. We wanted to offer something calmer and more solid.

About Panya Academy

Why we started, and what we are trying to do

Panya Academy was founded in 2021 by a small group of developers and educators based in Bangkok who had spent years working in machine learning and data engineering. Between them, they had also spent time helping colleagues and friends who were curious about AI but found most available courses either overwhelming or superficial.

The name comes from the Thai word for wisdom — ปัญญา — which in this context reflects the kind of understanding that comes from patient, careful study rather than speed. It felt like the right frame for what we wanted to build.

The courses at Panya Academy are designed around a specific idea: that people learn technical skills most durably when the pace is manageable and the feedback is specific. We keep cohorts small, we structure content by week rather than by clock hours, and we ask mentors to write feedback that actually explains things rather than just marking work correct or incorrect.

Our three current courses move from Python and machine learning fundamentals through to a career-level programme that includes model deployment and a portfolio project. Each one is intended to leave learners with genuine capability, not just familiarity with concepts.

We are based at 401 Sukhumvit 71 in Bangkok's Watthana district, though all teaching is online and learners join from across Thailand and the wider region.

What We Stand For

Our values shape how we teach

Pace over rush

We set weekly structures and reasonable expectations. Learners should feel they are moving forward, not running to keep up.

Honest feedback

Mentors explain what needs improving and why. Vague encouragement without substance is not useful, and we try to avoid it.

Build before you theorise

We introduce ideas through doing. Writing code and seeing results tends to make concepts stick better than reading about them first.

Respect for learners

We do not oversell outcomes. The courses describe what they involve, what they ask of you, and what you might be able to do when you finish — honestly.

The Team

People behind the courses

KP

Kasem Pattanaporn

Curriculum Lead

Kasem worked as a data scientist in Bangkok for seven years before joining Panya Academy. He designs the course structures and writes most of the core exercises.

AT

Araya Thiraphong

Lead Mentor — Foundations

Araya has been teaching programming to beginners for five years. She focuses on the Foundations course and wrote the feedback rubrics used across all mentoring.

NC

Nattawut Charoenwong

Mentor — Applied ML & Career Track

Nattawut works on production ML systems and mentors students in the more advanced courses. He also manages the portfolio review process in the Career Track.

Standards

How we maintain quality in our courses

Curriculum review

Each course is reviewed before every new cohort. We update exercises when tools or methods change, so the content stays relevant to what practitioners actually use.

Mentor qualification

Mentors have practical experience in the topics they teach, not only teaching credentials. We also read a sample of their feedback before they take on students.

Progress tracking

Students can see where they are in a course at any point. If someone falls significantly behind, their mentor reaches out before things become unmanageable.

Data privacy

Student data is held only as long as needed for course administration. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for advertising or other commercial purposes.

Feedback loop

We ask students to share their thoughts at the midpoint and end of each course. Recurring observations go into the next curriculum review rather than being filed away.

Portfolio integrity

The Career Track portfolio project is designed around a brief the student develops themselves, with mentor guidance. We want it to reflect actual capability, not a template.

Our Approach

AI development education done carefully

Most people who want to study AI development face a familiar frustration: available options are either very short and shallow, or so long and dense that only those with substantial existing knowledge can follow them. Panya Academy sits between these two extremes on purpose.

Our courses are structured and paced over weeks, not days. The Foundations programme runs for twelve weeks, not three. The Applied Machine Learning course runs for sixteen. The Career Track programme runs for twenty-four. This is not because the material is harder than it needs to be — it is because understanding comes from returning to concepts multiple times, from applying them in exercises, and from working through moments where things do not work as expected.

Learners based in Thailand, and across the wider Southeast Asian region, often study in their second language when working with technical English materials. We write our course content to be clear and direct rather than unnecessarily complex, which makes it more accessible to learners for whom English is not a first language.

The AI field changes quickly, and we acknowledge that what we teach today will not be the complete picture in two years. We try to focus on the underlying skills — working with data, understanding model behaviour, writing maintainable code, thinking carefully about evaluation — that transfer across tools and frameworks as they evolve.
